Every I Do ReDo! transformation begins with the original gown, but it doesn’t end there. Designer Suzanne Anderson studies its construction, fabric, lace and details to determine what can be preserved and what can become something entirely new.
Depending on the design, the process may include deconstructing the original garment, creating new patterns or muslins, rebuilding panels, reshaping the silhouette, adding corsetry, hand-finishing details and fitting the final piece for a beautifully sculpted result.
This is couture transformation, not production-line repurposing.
That distinction is important because Suzanne specifically describes the work as an involved apparel-design process, and her overall studio positioning is built around 25+ years of couture gown design, alterations and garment reconstruction.
A TRANSFORMATION STORY
From Grandmother, to Mother, to Bride
Created in the late 1980s or early 1990s, this gown was originally handmade by the bride’s grandmother for her mother.
Years later, it returned to the sewing room for another chapter.
The original bodice and sleeves were carefully removed and a completely new bodice was created using Alençon lace selected to complement the gown’s Chantilly lace skirt. A rhinestone and pearl belt brought a modern finish to the waist, while coordinating Alençon lace was added along the hem to create the length the bride needed.
The result wasn’t a recreation of her mother’s gown. It was her own gown, carrying pieces of the women and story that came before her.

Nationwide clients can begin the process virtually, then securely ship their gown to the Clearwater studio for its transformation. Suzanne personally evaluates and redesigns each piece before carefully packaging the finished creation for its journey home.

The questionnaire specifically establishes the in-person versus nationwide model, with local and Florida clients visiting the showroom and nationwide clients working through Zoom and email.
A Few Things You May Be Wondering
Every gown comes with its own history, construction and possibilities. Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most before a transformation begins.
What can you create from my wedding gown?
That depends on the gown, and that’s part of the fun. I Do ReDo! transformations can include completely redesigned bridal gowns, modern mini dresses, memory robes, veils, accessories and other meaningful heirloom pieces. Suzanne will evaluate your gown and help determine what its fabric and construction make possible.
Can you transform my mother’s or grandmother’s wedding gown?
Yes. In fact, heirloom gowns are at the heart of I Do ReDo! Suzanne carefully evaluates the original fabric, lace, construction and details to determine what can be preserved and how they can be incorporated into a piece that feels completely your own.
What if my gown is very old?
Don’t count it out just yet. Vintage and heirloom fabrics need to be evaluated individually, as age, storage and material can affect their condition. Send us photos of the gown and Suzanne can determine what may be possible before you move forward.
Do I need to live in Florida?
Not at all. Local clients can meet with Suzanne at the Clearwater studio, while nationwide clients can begin the process virtually and securely ship their gown for its transformation.
How does the process work if I live out of state?
We’ll begin virtually through photos, email and conversations about your vision. Once the direction is established, you can securely ship your gown to the Clearwater studio. Suzanne personally evaluates, deconstructs and redesigns your piece before carefully preparing the finished transformation for its journey back to you.
How far in advance should I reach out?
As early as possible. Couture transformations require time for design, deconstruction, reconstruction and finishing. If your piece is being created for a wedding or special event, include your date when submitting your gown so availability and timing can be considered from the beginning.
Will you recreate an inspiration photo exactly?
Inspiration is welcome, but your finished piece will be designed around your gown. Its fabric, construction, proportions and original details all influence what can be created. The goal isn’t to copy another dress. It’s to create something that feels like it could only belong to you.
Do you have to use the entire original gown?
No. Some transformations preserve large portions of the original gown, while others use only select lace, fabric, appliqués or sentimental details. Suzanne will help determine what should stay, what can change and what can become something entirely new.
How much does an I Do ReDo! transformation cost?
Pricing varies based on the original gown and complexity of the transformation. Memory robes begin at $475, mini dress redesigns typically range from $600–$900, partial redesigns begin at $900 and full gown transformations begin at $1,500+. After reviewing your gown and vision, Suzanne will provide a custom quote.
What should I send to get started?
Start with photos of the gown, including the front, back and any details you especially love. Tell us what you’d like to create, what you hope to preserve and your wedding or event date. You don’t need to have every detail figured out before reaching out.
